Job Description
Why the role?
We are seeking a Trust Account and Compliance Manager to join our national Client team. You will manage the firm's trust accounts, ensure compliance with regulations, and maintain accurate financial records. This role leverages your expertise in trust accounting on a national scale, contributing to operational excellence. If you have strong organisational skills and attention to detail, this position is ideal for you.
Key responsibilities:
Oversee end to end daily operations of the firm's trust accounts, including deposits, disbursements, reconciliations.
Ensure all trust account activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements, including the Legal Profession Act and relevant Law Society rules.
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all trust account transactions, including client ledgers and bank statements.
Prepare for and assist with internal and external audits of trust accounts.
Generate regular financial reports for management, highlighting any discrepancies or issues.
Liaise with clients (internal and external) regarding trust account matters.
Provide training and support to legal staff on trust account procedures and compliance requirements where appropriate.
Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in the trust account process, implementing best practices and enhancing efficiency.
Support the accounts payable team with day-to-day payments and bank reconciliations as required.
Desired Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in trust accounting, preferably within a law firm.
Strong understanding of trust accounting principles and regulations nationally.
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
Demonstrated computer skills with proficiency in Excel, Word and Outlook
Demonstrated use of iManage Work, iManage Share and other software as required.
Experience with legal practice management software such as Elite3E.
Outcome focused with the ability to prioritise and manage own time
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
High level of integrity and professionalism.
