Job Description

Why the role?

Graduate lawyer in our Pro Bono Practice. The position includes providing:

  • pro bono legal advice work for front line community legal centres and individuals experiencing disadvantage, and
  • pro bono legal research and writing work from a standpoint of structural injustice and systemic violence. This includes preparing literature reviews, submission writing, legal analysis and large research papers.

Our Pro Bono Practice is based on a commitment to humility and understanding the inherent tensions of corporate response to unfairness. We run an understated practice and work against profiling the firm on justice issues. We do not work in social impact.

It is important that you demonstrate a commitment listen to and understand the needs of communities experiencing disadvantage and marginalisation and the broader systemic issues that create and compound this unfairness.

Who are you?

  • Recently completed a law degree (LLB or JD) and progressing toward admission.
  • Curious, thoughtful and motivated to develop as a lawyer.
  • A strong communicator with clear and effective writing skills.
  • Highly organised with a keen attention to detail.
  • Interested in social justice, systemic disadvantage and social science.
  • A collaborative team player who values learning and feedback.
